Made to Measure
Odoo is open source, flexible and designed for your business now and into the future. While Odoo suits many businesses straight out-of-the-box, at Wedoo, we don’t rely on a one size fits all approach and customise software to directly fit your specific needs.
All in one
We approached Wedoo to help us build a customised system that would give us better control over and insight into our multi-faceted business. The previous system we used didn’t do this for us. We have found Awie and the team at Wedoo to be very knowledgeable and professional. Access to management and one-on-one support has given us a user friendly, intuitive, and easy to use system that we are looking to further improve over time. We have had a very positive experience working with Wedoo and would highly recommend them.

Yes, Odoo is an open-source business management software and the source code of the Community version is freely available for anyone to access, use, modify, and distribute. However, Odoo Enterprise is not open-source in the same sense as the Community edition.
Odoo Enterprise is a commercial version of the Odoo software that provides additional features, services, and support compared to the community edition. While the core of Odoo Enterprise is built on the same open-source codebase as Community, it includes proprietary modules and functionality that are not available in the open-source version. Moreover, the source code of the proprietary modules included in Odoo Enterprise is not publicly available or modifiable by users. To access and use Odoo Enterprise, users purchase the license via subscription directly with Odoo S.A, the company behind Odoo.
Odoo partners, like Wedoo, have access to the source code of Odoo Enterprise as part of the partnership agreement with Odoo. This allows Odoo partners to customise, modify, and extend the functionality of Odoo Enterprise to meet the specific needs of clients.
So in summary, Odoo is an open-source business management software. However, while the source code of the Community edition is publicly available, only Partners may access the source code of Odoo Enterprise.
Access to the full suite of Odoo apps costs between $45standard* and $67custom* NZD per user per month, plus a 20% discount on you first 12 months. *Converted in May 2023 from $28.30 & $33.90 USD. For current pricing visit www.odoo.com/pricing
A free trial is available and recommended if you would like to get a feel for the software.
Implementation costs depend on the requirements and size of your business. However, with Wedoo's "no surprises" promise, we will calculate the true cost of ownership up-front and give you peace of mind that the project will stick to budget.
As an open-source enterprise resource planning (ERP) software suite, Odoo is used by a range of different businesses of all sizes to manage various aspects of their operations. Due to the 'one free app forever' offer, there are many small businesses that use a single app (like Odoo Website, Odoo eCommerce or Odoo CRM) to perform a specific business function. However, due to the breadth of business scope and affordability of Odoo's suite of apps, Odoo is best used as a flexible ERP solution for businesses with anywhere from a few users to thousands of users. A holistic business solution may consist of some or all core applications like Accounting, CRM, Sales and eCommerce, Inventory Management, Manufacturing, Project Management and HR.
While Odoo and SAP are both ERP software suites with an extensive breadth in scope for helping business manage their operations, there are some significant differences between the two systems:
1. Cost: Perhaps the most significant difference between Odoo and SAP is the cost. SAP is far more expensive than Odoo, especially for SME's. With 99% of NZ businesses classified as SME's, SAP is prohibitively expensive. Odoo has a more affordable pricing structure with one low fee per user per month for access to the full suite of apps.
Odoo offers two versions of open source erp. The Community edition is free, completely open source, and available to download for anyone to use. The Enterprise edition is the paid (per user per month) version which comes with more apps than the Community edition, plus regularly updated features and functionality. While the source code of the Community version is available to the public, the source code of Enterprise is only available to licensed Odoo partners, which allows those partners to customise the applications.
Read our Odoo review for more information and if you're considering a DIY implementation, be sure to read our article on the subject first! It is recommended that you find a partner in your in your area to ensure the suite of business apps are implemented correctly and customised only where necessary.
In addition to the difference in pricing (Community is free and Enterpirse is paid), there are a number of key differences in the apps and functionality available in each Odoo edition. For a full explanation on the differences between Odoo Community and Enterprise, read our article on the matter.
